In this book, we will meet Beto, a 7 year old boy who has learned to think differently about his mother based on the superheroes’ stories he loves. Beto is raised only by his mother and, after watching her, he discovers that she has many superhero-like characteristics. Beto’s story is inspired by the experience of kids who are raised only by their mothers. You’ll notice from the plot that it’s not always easy to live in a family with only one caregiver, but it is possible to reframe how you see things to create a healthy environment. During our childhood, we read superhero comic books and watch superheroes in movies. As we grow and mature, it’s important to recognize that many superheroes are in front of us all the time. We just have to open our eyes!
